Alignment Shims
What are Alignment Shims?
An alignment shim in engineering is a thin piece of metal used to fill or pack gaps/spaces beneath the feet of plant machinery, such as pumps, motors & gearboxes.
Alignment Shims are commonly used in conjunction with shaft re-alignment work undertaken on rotating plant machinery, in order to fractionally elevate or lower one machine (most commonly a Motor) so that its rotating shaft is in perfect rotational centreline alignment with shaft of the driven unit (pump, fan, propeller).
The use of Laser Shaft Alignment systems for the alignment of rotating plant machinery, such as the Fixturlaser XA laser alignment system, has meant that modern industry can achieve a very high level of precision in the installation and commissioning of plant machinery.
Alignment shims are available in thickness starting at 0.025mm, in stainless steel or laminated brass.

Alignment Shims for Industrial Applications
Shims are supplied pre-cut and are available in a range of Metric or Imperial sizes. pre-cut shims are made of high-quality stainless steel to prevent corrosion from acid or alkali exposure.
pre-cut shims are available in several machine foot sizes, each with different thickness options to give the right alignment correction facility for almost any machine. pre-cut shims are easily and quickly identified by permanent marks indicating thickness
Pre-cut shims are completely flat, ensuring stability and consistent machine support over the full surface of the shim. Pre-cut shims are burr-free and have specially rounded corners to avoid injury to operatives during alignment and positioning.
Pre-cut shims have an extraction and insertion tab to facilitate positioning and removal, each clearly marked with thickness. Pre-cut shims are available in many pre-packed options to suit your requirements.
Alignment Shim Products
Shims can be supplied in packs of 10-off per size, or in Shim cases containing a variety of thicknesses and profiles as required.
Shims can be supplied to fit the following Bolt Sizes: M12, M18, M27, M36, M52
